These plants are native to Alps and Apennine mountains. Erica is about 15-20 cm high, with spiky leaves. It isblooming in spring (February-April) with white, red, pink, purple and blue flowers. Prefers sunny places, sandy limestone or stony soils.
Erica can be easily propagated by seeds planted in pots. This flower needs regularly watering. It can be propageted by cuttings planted in July. Cuttings lenght must be about 5 cm, rooting take about 3-4 weeks. According to me Erica is suitable for alpineums or rocky places.
